Frequently asked questions about equine photography sessions. Do feel free to call me on 07740866964 to have a chat about your horse’s photoshoot or to purchase a gift voucher,

What is required to achieve a black background photographs?
To create a black background photos we ideally need a barn, stable, indoor arena, or similar, with access to natural lighting from the outside. We will then position your horse in the opening to create a darkening effect in the background, which I then enhance during editing to achieve the desired look.
How should I prepare my horse for the session?
I would prepare your horse as if you were going to a competition. Try and avoid bathing on the day of your photoshoot because if the coat hasn’t dried in time this isn’t won’t look great in the photographs. Polished hooves, a brushed or braided mane and a sleek, shiny coat elevate your horse’s look and make for stunning portraits. Grooming to this level is incredibly important even if you don’t show. These photos will be on your walls for years to come and you definitely want your horse looking his or her best.
Remember, the extra care you put into grooming will make all the difference in how polished the final images look!
How long do photoshoots typically last?
Black background sessions typically take up to an hour. Or up to two hours with a stunning selection of horse and rider portraits. Of course we’ll be sure take breaks as needed to keep you and your horse comfortable during your photoshoot.
What happens if the weather is bad for my photoshoot?
If the weather doesn’t cooperate we will reschedule for another date. If the horse is photoshoot ready and the morning or the afternoon looks like it’s going to be dry, I am happy to arrive sooner or later in the day.
Can I include my family or my dog in the session?
Of course you can include your family or your dog in your equine photoshoot! I have over twenty year experience of photographing people and animals so ’m happy to capture those moments as well. Just let me know beforehand so we can plan accordingly.
